Welcome to the R. A. Townsend Company. In 1925, Russell Ambrose Townsend Sr. established the R. A. Townsend Coal Company in Alpena, Michigan. Since those humble beginnings, our company has grown from a local coal distributor to one of the larger and more successful distributors of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning products throughout Michigan.
